El Gordo

I apologize for the lack of postings lately but I’ve been out of town and away from a computer. I spent the weekend at the Come and Take It festival in Gonzales. While there, I was able to get some shots inside the old jail. This is one of the jail cells, complete with a cot and filthy mattress. Hundreds of names and other graffiti are carved into the concrete walls throughout the prisoner area.

  1. Kevin says:

Nice shot Andy. I like the drabness of the cell and the sharpness and clarity of the picture almost make this look like a screen shot from a new video game.

What kind of camera do you have?

  2. Tommy says:

I stared until my eyes burned. Those are brilliant shots made better because of the way you composed them. Those holes are better than a tiny window up high, eh? :)

  3. pierre says:

That’s very good stuff, I dig the lighting

  4. Dan says:

Great shot. Love the double images as well. I find you really captured the essence of what an old school jail cell must feel like – names and all. The lighting and colours here are superb!

  5. Brian says:

Very interesting how the light plays upon the mattress – good job capturing it.

  6. hza says:

This (these) images just work so well. Great job.

  7. Ed says:

Talk about scared straight. I’m sure the mattress looked like that when prisoners were held there. Good lighting.

  8. A. says:

    I love it.

  9. mari says:

Nice. The matress shape and indents (whatever you call them) play nicely with the low light coming in. The texture and text on the wall only adds more to it’s character.
