Sunday Service

Sunday ServiceThe light was great this morning as I explored the back roads of Gonzales and Caldwell counties. I found this old church sitting silently in a broken field on County Road 232. I know it was a church because I went inside and found toppled pews and a pair of forgotten pianos. I looked online but couldn’t find any reference to it so I’m not sure about its history. I’m going to keep searching though and I’ll provide an update if I find out anything.

Beautiful Andy. I love it. I so wish I was into photography when I lived in the Hill Country, because I love scenes like this.

  2. Phil says:

Quite a sad image; to see such a run down, abandoned old church. Nice shot.

Awesome on many levels. I love the sky, the decaying clapboards, that perfect skeleton of a tree next to the church. Great composition.

Wow. Beautiful shot. I was looking for old, dilapidated wood buildings this weekend, but I didn’t find any that I could access without trespassing. :-)

Sunday school stopped happening a long time ago at this church. It’s a shell of its former self. Absolutely haunting and filled with vacant emotion. Very nice capture and framing.

An emotional packed image. Truly sad but at the same time stunningly beautiful. The sky creates the mood for this image.

  8. Tim says:

How did you get the lighting like that? It looks light the sun is off to the right and the church appears to be lit from behind the camera…

  9. @lbedo says:

The sky matches perfectly the dramatic state of the church.
Like the composition with the trees on the side, too.
Like the colors and contrast too.
Like it all, actually ! ;)
